This was Wilson’s conversation with the guy who cut his hair the other day:

Guy: Oh, so you’re married already? *really suprised* You would’nt have done it so early if you had the choice, would you?

Wilson: *smile* What do you mean ‘if I had the choice’? I did have a choice, and I chose to get married …

Guy: I mean, if you could turn back time, you wouldn’t get married so early, right? You have no freedom once you’re married!

It’s interesting how some people see marriage as being tied down, or worse, chained to the ground forever and ever. As if it’s ‘the beginning of the end of the world”.

I guess if you weren’t careful about choosing who you’re marrying, you would definitely feel that way. People say, if you enter a marriage with a view that it’ll always be happy and problem-free, you’ll end up getting disappointed.

And I do agree. In marriage, two different individuals are united. Two people from different backgrounds and many other factors. Frictions are inevitable. And they can tear you apart or glue you both together even stronger at the end of a resolved issue.

I believe that it all depends on how the couple deals with each friction.

It’s our 4th anniversary this year and we’re loving our moments as husband and wife. Yes, there are pebbles along our marriage path, but with God as the Lord of our household, there’s nothing that we can’t face and solve together. Really.

I LOVE browsing through baby stuff. Especially baby girls’ clothings! They’re just sooo sweet… and there are sooo many to choose from.

Went with Anya to Tom & Stephanie at West Mall Shopping Centre and they’re having this grrreat sale on baby clothes! Prices start from only $3.90. It’s excellent! The inside brand tags were either torn, marked or purposely cut, though, … but hey … who cares? It’s a great bargain.

PS: Too bad Tom & Stephanie has no website. The clothes featured above are taken from other baby clothes websites.

We planned to move to a slightly bigger place last year. So we went around and viewed a few flats, … the usual stuff all home buyers did. Found a nicely renovated flat that we both liked and to cut the story short, we’ve also found a buyer for our current flat.

Today we FINALLY had our 1st HDB appointment! It’s been postponed since January. *sigh* Now I’m just happy that the day when we can finally move to our new home is getting closer!

It’s not because I hate our current flat. Noo… I just feel the stacks of ‘moving- out’ boxes make our home look and feel cluttered right now. And, of course the plain fact that we’re moving to a NEW HOME really excites me too! hehe… Can’t wait!!

Oh … another thing.

Us moving out soon also means that the days of Anya standing at the door, looking out and waving ‘bye-bye’ to our neighbours will soon be over, too. Oooo … I’ll definitely miss my friendly neighbours.

I’m SO happy I came across this site today!!

Can’t imagine she’s only 2 weeks away from her 1st birthday!

A few updates:
Lately she likes to grin, not only to us but also to people she meets on the streets! A few days ago she even initiated a game of ‘peek-a-boo’ with a few old men sitting next to us at a food court!

Went to River Hong Bao. It was Wilson’s brother’s first ever visit there and we thought it’ll be nice for him to get a better feel of how chinese new year is celebrated here in Singapore.

We felt it’s not as ‘grand’ as the previous years, though. They’re on a tighter budget this year, perhaps …

Two things definitely remain unchanged though:

> ‘Gold’ paper bits still came out from the huge statue once in a while, and lots (and I mean, LOTS) of people stood below the statue to frantically race against one another and catch as much gold paper as possible. It symbolised the fortune they’d get for the new year, I think.

> The portable toilets still smelled really really bad. The desperate ones of course had no choice. (I’d personally rather hold the urge till I cry, rather than use it at all)

People who never experience living in Singapore sometimes ask us questions like, ‘How do you manage to live in such a tiny unit? The flats are built so closely together!’. A couple from New Zealand also once said to me, ‘We flew above the city and wonder how people actually manage to live in such a busy and packed city like Singapore’.

I admit, I don’t love the lifestyle here, and I think the blocks of flats do look like lego bricks too, but, it’s all okay (hey, we’ve lived here for nearly 6 years now).
We have a choice. We either list endless complaints about everything in our life, or be grateful and thank God for the countless blessings we receive everyday. The choice is ours to make.
We chose to buy the flat we have today because of the green and hilly areas that surround us. We may need to travel quite a distance to the main city, but the weather here is somewhat cooler and the air feels fresher too compared to some other residential areas.

What makes a home is not the structure or the areas that surround it, it’s what’s inside, the family, the warmth, the love, the bond between one and another.

I’m happy our family live in a home.
