“Thanks” to today’s gadgets, more and more kids tend to say, “I don’t know what I’m good at. I don’t know what I like. I’m not interested in anything actually.” (But somehow they are interested …

Real fun under the sun

9 August 2005 | Posted in: Daily | No Comment

We had a great picnic today! Had a real nice fellowship with lots of friends at MacRitchie Reservoir Park.

I laughed and laughed during the games till my tummy hurt.

The weather was great too, … well, for the first half of the day anyway (before wind and heavy rain got us all packing and running for shelter, hehe).

It was a nice day out overall!

Carnival @ Marina

Wilson went there and had a blast! Apparently it was a really huge affair there!

I’d love to go too! Well, may be next week the three of us can go, with a few other friends. Apparently they have areas for kids, you can get on the huge tanks, wear the helmets and act like a soldier too!

Personally, I think it’s great that Singapore organises such an event. Civilians can touch war tanks, real guns (unloaded of course) and see what Singapore soldiers would do in a real combat. Aircrafts are displayed and they even show off some aero-acrobatics.

All this unconsciously instill some sense of patriotism in the people’s minds and hearts. Making Singaporeans feel ‘proud’.  Building a positive image of the Singapore armed forces too.

Fireworks!

This year’s Fireworks Festival is on! Went and enjoyed a great evening out today!

It’s still on till next week, so if you missed it today, you still have a chance. Go! Go! Go!

Family photo

This is the latest photo of the three of us. Taken last July, during our family reunion in Jakarta.

Anya was cranky and tired from the full day’s programme !

Anyway, I’d highly recommend keeping family photos regularly (if you haven’t done so already), especially when you have little kids.

Because us adults may not look differently after a year or so, but our kids, WHOAA … they grow SUPER fast, we better not miss too much!

And even if you don’t have kids, I still think it’d be nice if moments are captured more often, for us to cherish later. Especially since digital cameras are so common and affordable nowadays.

Oops!

As Anya’s personal hairdresser, my work has always been quite alright so far *smile*

Well, at least until two days ago!

Anya’s fringe was getting a bit too long and I thought I gave her a quick trim.

And err, this time round, it went a bit off.

Thank goodness she’s still a 17-month-old kid!

Cherish the moment

1 August 2005 | Posted in: Daily, Parenting | No Comment

We met up with a friend today who had a 15-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son. When she saw Anya coming along with us, she went, ‘Aaawwww, I still remember the time when my kids were still at Anya’s age!’.
She then said, ‘Now they are all grown up and they don’t want to be close to you anymore. Really, you should cherish the moments you have with your kids. Especially the time when your kids still want to be close to you, hug and kiss you. Now I have to beg my kids to give me a hug! I would say to them … ‘come on, please give mommy a hug, mommy really needs one now’. Even then, they’d reluctantly give me a half-hug. It’s kinda sad, really.’

I do realise how time will pass, how I’d look back one day and miss the times when I can still carry Anya in my arms, the hugs and kisses, even the times when she gets cranky and all.
And after what she said to me this afternoon, I think I’ll try to enjoy every moment together with her even more than before …

Still learning

Evidently, drinking from a glass, and doing it yourself isn’t all that simple.

Check this out: pain no more!

25 July 2005 | Posted in: Daily, Food & Health | No Comment

I guess her teething pain is over. These last couple of nights, Anya’s been sleeping throughout the night REALLY well. She now sleeps around 11 to 12 hours each night. AND when she wakes up, she doesn’t look for her milk bottle any more!

New-found fact: As babies grow up, they get thirsty less often.

Thoughts : We were all once a child

Every influential person we know today was once a small child too who couldn’t do anything much, who most probably had never imagined doing/becoming the kind of person he/she …

When the head goes all hot

Of course!

Personally, I’m not against computer games (or the TV, or mobile phone …
