Vai : Mom, check this out! I just doodled … YOU!

7 April 20098 Comments

Hehe. I love how he doodled my hair and two tiny legs.

Vai is now 2 years and 7 months and he likes to doodle. Just like his sister when she was about his age.

When it comes to kids and their eagerness to explore (or in this case, doodle), I personally tend to just let them have fun, encouraging them to doodle more.

Because at this stage, I don’t think we need to dampen their eagerness by giving negative remarks like, ‘Can’t you draw better?’ or ‘That’s NOT the way you draw a face’ (though perhaps it’s said in a ‘joking’ manner)

Because to me, how the object actually ‘looks like’ on his doodling board doesn’t quite matter.

It’s the effort and process I’m more interested in, not the results.

(Even when mommy ends up looking like some sort of a creature from another planet. Hehe.)

Yes … it is too easy for us adults (me included) to make ‘unnecessary’ comments, and often .. ‘unconsciously’ too

Well said! We adults should not dampen our children’s creativity and desire for exploration with discouraging remarks~ ^^

your kids never stop to amaze me. Dari naik sepeda, manjat pintu, makan sendiri, gambar2. Nice picture, vai! JL tuh pegang pen aja blm bisa. Kelir msh coret2 tok. Gambar sama sekali blm bs. Klu ketemu kertas ato doodle board, dia tuh cuma corat/et. Mgkn salah gw sih, ga sabaran. Kudu berubah.
