Electing Jakarta’s Next Governor!

17 April 2017No Comment

Finally, my long-awaited C6 form is in my hands!

This is THE form voters need to bring to the voting poll this coming Wednesday (19 April), if they wish to vote for the next governor with ‘no problems’.

(Read: Without it, issues on the voting day may arise, eg. Officers at the voting polls not allowing you to vote, etc)

Elections of Jakarta governors have never been like THISPersonally, we encountered many issues with voting registrations (Wilson’s name still is not on the list btw, although we registered together!). We contacted many parties about our names NOT being on the list, and in the end, only MY name was listed as ‘an official voter’, not his =\

This means, he’d need to fill out the ‘additional voting form’ that day, and can only cast his vote after 12pm.

There have been so many videos going around too, mainly clips of religious people giving threatening messages.

Seriously, there’s just so much tension in Jakarta leading up to the election.

Elections of Jakarta governors have never been like THIS, I don’t think.

Now.

Please make sure you get to vote! Are we afraid of the ‘intimating messages’?

NOT AT ALL.

In fact, all this tension confirms how it is so crucial for us to cast our vote.

Jakarta friends,

May I sincerely ask the following?

>> Please make sure you have your C6 in your hands!
>> Please make sure you get to vote!
>> Double check that your name and KTP numbers on the form are correctly written
>> Bring along your KTP and KK (original and photocopies) on the voting day, just in case.

Let’s do our part as people who live in Jakarta, as Indonesian citizens, as proud Indonesians.

Here’s to a better Jakarta!
