How Do YOU Usually Have Your MILO?

26 July 201117 Comments

[When the kids had Milo Dinosaur and Milo Bandung, I had my Teh Tarik at the time, and … I couldn’t resist taking sips from their glasses again and again, hehe]

Just last week I was down with diarrhea and a mild fever. I vomited badly too (read: squatted by the roadside, while carrying Brie!).

My doctor told me that I should stop drinking milk, including Milo. For a week!

Gee. Now THAT would be really tough, I thought.

Because ever since I had Brie, I’ve been drinking MILO e-ve-ry-day!

Like, at least 2 big glasses of it.

I don’t know if it’s all just ‘in my head’, but I feel when I drink it nice and hot (and MILKY!), it … ‘relaxes’ me. Haha. Really!

Ah, how I was so very thankful to God that I was that sick for just one day.

I was MUCH better the next day.

So errr … I made a ‘cup’ of hot Milo, I mean just a cup INSTEAD of my usual ‘two big’ glasses of it.

Hehe, I know, I know, it’s an ‘excuse’, but I really craved for it! (AND, I needed the energy too since I’m breastfeeding Brie? =)

I know many, MANY, others prefer to drink it cold.

Like the kids and my hubby.

Somehow, I drink Iced Milo Dinosaur only when I’m outside though. Hmm. Perhaps it’s because a cold Milo is more thirst-quenching, and a hot one is more relaxing?

Now, I wonder.

How do YOU usually drink YOUR Milo?

Cold? Hot? Eating it straight from the tin? =)

Anyway, here’s how I usually make my hot Milo at home!

I’d usually scoop 3 spoonfuls of Milo (the bigger the glass, the bigger the scoop!)

I’d pour ‘boiling hot’ water till the glass is about 3/4 full.

I then pour some fresh milk!

There you go!

My hot Milo with lots of Milk! Yummm!

On a side note, the other day I came across this ‘MILO video‘ done by a couple of NTU (Nanyang Technological University) students! And I thought, wow … not bad at all! Watching it sort of made me want to make a Milo video of my own, but haha … where got time lah!

After you’re done watching the clip, you may want to check out their Facebook Page as well! (I saw an old photo of THE ‘Milo Van’ – yes, the one that went to schools!! – somewhere in their photo album!)

Oh btw, don’t forget to leave me a quick note please : How do YOU usually have your Milo?

Hot!!! Cos it will warm me up. Too cold to hv cold milo. I’ve got sweet tooth. So i usually hv 4scoops of milo, 1 scoop of sugar, hot water. I’d prefer no milk. But if i am rushing & need my milo to be drinkable asap (as in not too hot to drink), then i’ll put milk in.

But d last time i was in sgp, i was introduced to milo dinosaur. It suits sgp weather. Yummy

Milo Dinosaur FTW!!! =`) Not sure if it’s bad to sip the Milo “powder” on the top, but it’s so so good!! =p

Oops sorry my post ended abruptly ! And excuse if there were any spelling errors. Was in a hurry while writing! At the end what I was about to say is that am a coffee addict like how your addicted to Milo. I need a cup if coffee every day in the mor without it I can’t survive lol! But only one cup a day.

Hi hi … I was pretty much okay again by the end of the next day…. am so grateful for that. Really, though we ‘know’ it all in our head, it’s when we really are ‘weak’ that we are reminded to be grateful about our health and everything that we usually have.

I used to drink tea a LOT. More like a ‘tea addict’, … well until I’ve delivered Brie hehe … now I drink Milo every single day without fail =)

(Milo with Hersheys … whoaa… I can imagine the ‘thickness’ and richness of it!)

  • Lacy says:

Hope your doing fine.. Doctors generally ask us to avoid milk & milk products when we have an upset stomach the reason being I guess it’s hard to digest ? My daughter had tummy flu once and her dr advised me to avoid all milk products and that’s really difficult to follow when we have young kids. But she said if no choice then dilute the milk , and when I asked about Milo she said one glass a day is ok without adding milk. I like cold Milo only at pasta mania. Their Milo is very chocolatey and rich. I used to think how cine they make it so thick and rich in taste? Then one day I saw them adding Hersheys chocolate syrup along with few scoops of Milo! No wonder it was so devine. From then on I started using Hersheys at home when making Milo! Yummy!!! Hey u seem to be a Milo addict! Am

I’m way more “bad” with my Milo. I used to drink it with milo and 100% hot milk, no water at all!! But I usually only take half a cup, until I became lactose intolerant 🙁 so now i drink milo with soybean milk.

    • Leonny says:

Hmm … Milo with soybean milk … I wonder how it tastes like …

Btw, I’m curious … how can one become lactose intolerant ‘later in life’, I wonder. Can share with me? Thanks…

  • Angeline says:

I’m a MILO person cos I don’t take coffee. Every morning I’ll put 3 spoon full of MILO (no added sugar, just pure MILO). Pour in the boiling hot water and that’s it…That’s my simply delicious hot MILO dipping with cream crackers…

When I was small, I spread some condonsed milk on a slice plain bread, then sprinkle with MILO powder….taste is just as good as it can be… just like eating bread with nuttella.

    • Leonny says:

      Hi Angeline,

I used to always drink tea, every single day, at least 2 glasses of it. Tea with sugar.

Somehow after I delivered Brie, it’s changed to Milo! Hmm …

And hey, I did have my bread with condensed milk too when I was little … =)

  • Irene Weng says:

I love my milo with iced and spoonful of milo powder on top, milo dinosaur!! 🙂 It’s a sweet and nostalgic experience cause I used to “eat” Milo as a kid. Eat as in I scoop a big spoonful of it and lick the Milo on the spoon as if I’m having a lollipop. Hehee..

  • Leonny says:

    Hi Gwen!

I’ve now fully recovered, thanks Gwen!

Actually I was already 95% better by the next day, which was amazing to me, because it really was bad the day before, AND Wilson happened to be away that week, so I was practically alone with the 3 kids. Being healthy was kinda ‘crucial’ and being ‘healthy again in such a short time’ was God’s grace to me, I feel.

  • Milo is heaty thing to drink everyday in our life. i like hot milo maybe just once in a week. ^_^

  • Gwen says:

Hello! I hope you’re fully recovered, diarrhoea is so unfun when one has to also look after kids!

I have no real preference but I know what you mean…when I make my own, it is usually a hot piping cup, but when I’m outside in a hawker centre I tend to order ice milo almost 99% of the time. 🙂
