“Thanks” to today’s gadgets, more and more kids tend to say, “I don’t know what I’m good at. I don’t know what I like. I’m not interested in anything actually.” (But somehow they are interested …

Captured, as a family

14 August 20088 Comments

In the name of capturing and treasuring moments, I take photos everyday. It’s a passion of mine. But, as hard to believe as it may sound, we have very very few ‘proper’ family photos.

And I guess, it’s because most of the time one of us is the one behind the camera ?

Anyway.

The one above, the most recent one we have, was taken less than two weeks ago, and the one below was taken at the end of June, during our Jakarta trip.

Yes, kids grow so fast (and we adults just sort of look the same over the years, don’t we!), and I think it’s nice to have not just them in the picture, but also us parents WITH them once in a while. As a family.

While we’re on the topic of family photos, here’s a shot of us and our ‘bigger’ family, also taken during our Jakarta trip last June when we had our mini family reunion.

My parents, my three sisters and their husbands and kids, my uncle who happened to be in Jakarta at the time (the one in blue), AND my grandparents (who are 88 and 85 years old this year!) who’re in their red tops.

It’s really nice to still have the time (and opportunity!) for such a get together. Treasured moments.

    Hi Neera!!

Here’s my past post on the cameras I use :
    http://www.oureverydaythings.com/2008/01/photos-on-this-blog-what-are-my-cameras/

I’m happy with my Canon Ixus 850IS … and if I were to recommend a pocket camera, I’d recommend this one ๐Ÿ™‚
(There are newer and more advanced version of Canon Ixus range by now)

    Happy snapping!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks! Yes, it’s interesting isn’t it, how we have so many of the kids’ photos, but so little of those family ones?

I love the scenery too … Refreshing. Quite a change from Singapore and Jakarta. It was taken at our villa in Puncak (ie. mountain top, about 2 hours drive from Jakarta city)

    Fay :

Thanks Fay! My grandparents got married when they’re 17 and 20 years old, in mainland China! (and it wasn’t even an ‘arranged marriage’!) And yes, I do feel they look young too for their age!

And hey … you’re coming to Singapore soon! As for the list of places to visit here in SG, I’m thinking of doing a post on it sometime next week. This way, readers can always add on to the list too, if they want. Hope that list will help!

Beautiful family and extended family! Your grandparents and parents look really young for their age! Its so great you all had such a nice family reunion.
On a different note …. we will be in Singapore in a few weeks and I was wondering if you could give me a recommendation as to which library has the best childrens’ section? We will be staying with my parents in Upper Bukit Timah, near Bkt Timah Plaza & Beauty World. Any recommendations as to what to do with kids (mine are 19 mo & 4.3 yrs) while there would be much appreciated. We know about the bigger tourist attractions like Sentosa, the Zoo, Bird Park, the East Coast Beach, but not the other newer places that have come up since we lived there over 15 years ago!
    Thanks!
