Vai’s shocking mealtime

12 April 20074 Comments

This is what generally happens during ALL his mealtimes nowadays.

Food goes in. Some comes out. Mom scoops it back in. Some falls on the table. Kid wipes it all over with both hands. Hands go into mouth and wipe face.

Spoon approaches mouth. Kid swats the spoon.

Spoon approaches mouth. Kid makes sudden moves with head and food lands on eyebrow.

Oh my.

[A rather shocking sight, I know. In the end he looks like he’s been splashed with mud or something!]

At least he doesn’t cry or complain much now. And he does finish his food in the end (30% of it goes everywhere else other than the mouth though!)

PS: Just in case you’re wondering about the green goop he’s eating. It’s spinach.

    Gwenneth :

    Thanks for sharing!! 😀

You know at the time, whenever Vai had his meals, it was so messy that he only wore his diapers during mealtimes, so that I could just easily lift him off his baby chair with my arms stretched out (to make I don’t get any of the food on my shirt!) and head straight to the bathroom for his ‘post-meal thorough wash’ hehe

    It does get better though.

I hope you’re somewhat encouraged upon hearing that 🙂

    Hi,

I totally identify with this post now! Oh my, my son is soooo messy at mealtimes. I really think back to how I had it so easy with my daughter cos she was never messy.
After a meal nowadays, my son’s high chair tray definitely looks like the one in your pic, and let’s not start on the spinach and sweet potato in the hair, on the shirt, on the arms, on the seat, etc…
Sometimes I think I should be the one to wear a bib rather than him, at least if he’s not concerned about his clothes, I can protect mine, LOL!

Hahaha … I’m GLAD those days are over! Yes, EVERY meal time it was really really messy!

So I’d normally let him wear only his diaper and bib, and immediately after he’s done with his meal, I’d lift him off (his body not too close to me!) and go straight to the bathroom! He’d then have his shower. The most practical way at the time.

And when we’re out and about, either I breastfed him a lot, OR I let him eat and DISTRACT him as best as I could!

Oh goodness! You mean he looks like this everyday and for both meals?? Faintzzz… YOu can think about making him wear raincoat or something. What if you are out for a meal??
