Checking Out : Taman Kota Waduk Pluit (City Park Pluit Dam)

13 July 2014No Comment

If you live in Jakarta, you’ve heard about ‘Taman Kota Waduk Pluit’, which basically is this huge dam area in Pluit (North of Jakarta) that has been amazingly transformed by the recently elected governor and vice governor (Jokowi and Ahok).

In short, this area was a slum before. Make-shift illegal housings surrounded the dam, and news reports wrote about how piles of rubbish were found ‘everywhere’ too.

I grabbed these two photos (of how it’s like previously) from merdeka.com

Today, we checked this place out at around 5pm.

And you know what?

It is such a nice, spacious place!

Clean. And, not at all crowded by sellers or buskers asking you for money.

They even have a few simple bikes, scooters, mini-becaks for rent!

Oh btw, there’s one kite seller, and we got a kite from him for just Rp 6000 (that’s less than SG$1!).

Anya and Vai went rollerblading (we brought our own).

Brie happily flew the kite.

And we adults enjoyed the nice breezy air and chats with friends.

One nice and relaxing late afternoon spent in the outdoors! *YAY*
