Learning the Art of Juggling Work and Family, and Everything Else

28 May 201312 Comments

Quite a few people have asked me, ‘So are you still a fulltime Mom, now that you’re in Jakarta?’

In response, I’d reply, ‘Yes I am, if you’re talking about whether I look after all three children myself for 24 hours a day.’

But.

I guess now I’d need to add that I also have started working since last year.

Then, the next question I usually get is, ‘Where do you work and what do you do?’

Well, to answer the question simply, I’d usually share how I now am with Reformed 21, a non-profit Christian TV Network based in Jakarta, and I am a TV host there too (where I interview theologians and pastors in a programme called ‘In Conversation With’)

And so.

Yes I try to juggle everything as best as I can.

And yes, it’s not easy.

I’d need to pick up the art of juggling everything within the 24 hours we all have in a day

I’d need to pick up the art of juggling everything within the 24 hours we all have in a day.

From sending/picking up the kids, to spending time with them, to managing programmes and production shoots, preparing for interviews, to cooking and all sorts of house-related chores.

Oh, and of course blogging, which I’d never abandon because it’s something I’m truly passionate about =)

[By now, the kids would come along with me to almost all production shoots. Anya and Vai would babysit Brie when filming starts, and if Brie happens to nap, Anya sometimes assists me and jots down production notes =)]

Frankly, I’ve never imagined doing what I do now.

And I must say, the juggling of everything itself is not easy.

But you know what?

I really feel God is training me to ‘squeeze’ my hours every single day, so that ‘more’ can be achieved, and ‘more’ can be blessed.

So yes, it’s a privilege, AND a tough process for me to go through too at the same time.

It’s very humbling and I’m still learning. Every day.

Thank God for this ministry.

And, thank God for my supportive hubby and friends.
