Baby no. 3 : Morning Sickness

13 October 201022 Comments

[Tummy at 4.5 weeks pregnant. Basically it’s taken after I double confirmed that I really AM pregnant]

I’ve been feeling nauseous, bloated, and sleepy since the beginning of last week (and that’s when I was about 5 weeks pregnant).

I’ve lost my appetite, and I have little energy.

I don’t feel like eating, but yet I feel hungry.

And when I do eat, I can’t quite taste anything. My taste buds are mostly gone.

I feel like my ‘stomach’ goes all the way up towards my throat, making me feel like gagging.

And you know, just yesterday, when we had our first check up, my doctor asked, ‘So, how are you feeling?’

And when I told him how things are, he smiled and said, ‘Oh, that’s GREAT! It means the pregnancy is going well! And it’ll get worse, peaking at around week 10!’

Gee.

Oh btw, I went through a similar phase when I was pregnant with Anya and Vai.

I actually kept a journal on how my pregnancy was and the changes in my tummy size, week by week, on my old website. Those pages are still ‘active’ and I thought of sharing them with you today, as they’ll probably be somewhat useful to some of you.

Anyway, I’m still thankful thatΒ I’m not bed-ridden or anything. I know many others who go through much worse morning sickness phases.

I mean, at least I only gag, and don’t actually vomit. I can still send my kids to school and occasionally force myself to cook something simple for the kids.

AND, at least I’m not like this lady I know who felt sick and nauseous … whenever she saw her husband! Haha. I thought that was funny! She had to stay with her mom during the weeks she had her morning sickness. And this happened when she’s pregnant with her THREE kids! Imagine that!

Oh well.

Still, I’m SO looking forward to the days when my morning sickness phase is over for good.

Btw, if you’re a mom, how was YOUR morning sickness phase?Β I know some lucky ones have NO morning sickness at all!

    Hi Leonny,

Just wanna say that How I wish that I could have written those pregnancy journal as well, when I was expecting my 3 kids.

No worries, your nausea would go away soon. Just need to eat bit by bit every now and then, coz, the baby needs to grow…

  • Hi Leonny,

Congrats on your third child! I guess I must be one of the lucky ones too. Didn’t have much morning sickness at all, though I did feel a little bloated and didn’t have much appetite on some days.

Good luck for your third one!

  • Lazymummy says:

Just saw the good news! Congratulations on your no. 3!!!

My morning sickness runs 24 hours but lucky me, it stops after 1st trimester. Hopefully yours will stop at 11 weeks too.

  • Leonny says:

    Hi Grace,

I had to look up what those terminologies are, and oh my … so you had severe morning sickness?? For BOTH pregnancies too. I can totally understand if you share you simply don’t have the ‘drive’ to try for no. 3 … I can only imagine how I would be terrified too.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Leonny says:

    Hi keitsu,

    Thank you πŸ™‚

And having morning sickness ‘throughout’ the pregnancy sounded so tough! Glad you pulled through …

As for the joy upon seeing the little baby in the end, … the best part πŸ˜€

  • Leonny says:

    PC:

Congrats to you too! πŸ˜€ Hope your morning sickness is over real soon.

As for me, since I’m about week 7, I guess I still have a month to go if it ends at around week 11. This time round it does seem harder than the first two though …

  • Leonny says:

    Helloo ….

    THANK YOU πŸ˜€

  • Leonny says:

    Grace:

    Hi hi …

This time round, it’s not just about my tastebuds, but also my appetite. It’s been very low, but I feel hungry easily. So it’s been rather tough, with the lack of energy level too.

Just hoping that it doesn’t last for too long πŸ™‚

  • Leonny says:

    Linda:

    Thanks πŸ˜€
And so YOU are one of those lucky ones! πŸ™‚ Good on you πŸ™‚

  • Leonny says:

    Hi ladies,

THANK YOU for leaving me the messages! πŸ˜€

As a quick update, morning sickness is still around, and it goes round the clock. Hope it’ll go away real soon.

PS: It’s a group reply .. sorry that I can’t reply to your message individually ya …

  • Grace says:

    Congrats! : )

I had hyperemesis gravidarum for both pregnancies and ptyalism for the 2nd. Dr. Wong mentioned I am the only 2 patients he has seen with serious ptyalism.

Wish I have the courage for #3.

  • keitsu says:

    Congrats!

For me, I have morning sickness all the way till I gave birth… and I really throw up… during the first trimester it will be regularly in the morning and at night… when it reaches 2nd and 3rd trimester it was slightly better… only on some days especially after a bumpy ride home…

but still its a joy when you see your little one… πŸ™‚

  • Michelle Herdian says:

    Waaaaaa…
I cant share anything since I’m still far away from being married (so obviously canNOT be pregnant!)… Just want to say, I can’t wait to pat the little foetus inside jiejie leonny’s uterus! ^^v *elus elus*

  • PC says:

Hi Leonny, I am currently 14 weeks, and I have all the same symptons as you! Loss of appetite, no actual vomitting but lots of gagging, and cooking smells really turn me off! But still I have to force myself into the kitchen to cook for my 3 yr old. I still gag on and off, but the loss of appetite is not so bad as in the 1st trimester.
Hang in there, and congrats! πŸ™‚

  • Levine Tay says:

congrats to your baby no3! πŸ˜‰

  • msian says:

    congratulation!!

my 2-pregnancies.. no morning sickness.. no food craving.. but my hb craving for food heehee

  • Grace says:

I am just like you… my tastebuds ” don’t work” during my first trimester for all my 3 pregnancies. However, the morning sickness disappear on the first day of my SECOND trimester, like clockwork! My appetite returns, do does my energy level. I always enjoy my 2nd trimester where I get to enjoy all my fave foods. be patient…. the day will soon come…. in the meanwhile, crackers and milk ???

  • Linda says:

Congratulation Leonny!! As the doctor said, treat the morning sickness as good news which means healthy pregnancy… πŸ™‚
I am one of those lucky mum…

  • Samantha says:

I am so proud of you Girl. Congrats!!!

In Singapore, not many people will go for 3 kids. Pray these 2 years, our income increase dramatically then I can go for 3rd one;)

I am pretty lucky that my 2 pregnancies to Delivey were pretty smooth. So I enjoy the process very much.

  • mnhl says:

Congratulations! It is indeed a good news. Hope your morning sickness will sailed away soon……

During my both pregnancies I don’t have major morning sickness. Just felt stomach bloated at times and don’t feel like eating anything. But I do have a lot of crave – to eat this and that. haha

  • Amie says:

    Hey Leonny, congrats!
Hope you’re coping well with you morning sickness…
I remembered when I was pregnant, I tried to avoid going near the food court area, coz the smells from all the food stalls made me felt so sick!

  • Gwen says:

Hi Leonny! I just checked your site and read the good news. Congratulations πŸ˜€ Do take good care, and I hope the morning sickness passes soon. But yes, your ob-gyn is right…it’s a good sign that the pregnancy is going well.

    God bless. πŸ™‚
