For those who recommend driving, is it safe to drive to KL with kids in tow? So far we've only flown to KL but was thinking of driving this time round.

Hi Dila,

Thanks for dropping by my blog and sharing! :)

Yep, if we're travelling with the elderly or little children through LCCT, it will be inconvenient in many ways.

I agree with you. Having to travel to KL for business every 3 weeks. I tried all modes of transport but mainly drive to KL.

Its wasnt as what we had expected like short travelling time and convenience. The moment we touch down at LCCT it wasnt smooth all the way. The plane had stopped in the open area in the runaway and we had to walked quite a distance to the terminal. Arriving the terminal, we were greeted by not working escalators. Hence I had to lug my luggage up the staits. Thankfully my mum whose leg not strong weren't with me. Imagine those old folks.

The shuttle bus is at the far end of the terminal, again we had to walked to the sheltered bus stop. Wait anthr half hr for the ride to city and worse. I didnt think I would arrive the city in one piece. The indian young driver were driving at so high speed. I keep saying my prayers. Even my hubby who drives fast tink its super fast..the trip back was none the better.

Worst KL Sentral being the "terminal" for connecting routes to various cities are not "tourist/handicap frinedly". Its so congested and the facilities were horrible. The counter/tix sales weren't prominent. Alamak posing so much confusion.

Hmmm..in all it takes 3 hours in KL but 7 hours of travelling time + the hassle of carrying my luggange up and down the stairs. We now just stick to driving.

Just sharing :)

Hi Eunice!

Thanks for dropping by and for sharing your tips :)

The only thing about taking a coach is, when we have 2 small kids in tow, staying on a bus for hours (though we do have those 'stops') gets a little tough. Now that my kids are bigger, it's more possible though! :)

Budget airlines are cheaper, but they dun take care of their pax. Next time take SQ. More expensive, but with many flts daily, they are able to handle delays more efficently and they provide the best customer care!

I've only just had a baby so I don't have personal stories to share about travelling up to KL with kids. But my husband (being Malaysian) and I do go up to KL pretty often. We used to take the coach a lot, but with cheaper airfares we have tried budget airlines like yourself. Works well for couples without kids I think, as long as if there are no delays! But we think travelling with kids will be best via driving because you can stop for a break anytime you want. The only thing is that you'll have to avoid peak times for traffic, and have a good map :)

Definitely drive.. esp since you have 2 adults and 2 kids. The comfort.. the convenience upon reaching KL.. the flexibility. I only fly if hubby is not available to drive us there.. Even then.. it is definitely more tiring to fly then to drive. Bus is pretty out of the question for me.. because the kids are still so young. Train?? Will have to probably drugged the kids first... 10 hour ride.. no kidding!

Since by plane as just inconvenient as the rest. I would rather take plane as I never like going by bus on such a long journey, it gives me headaches from that bumpy ride your get when you take a bus and worse it has no toilet.
