Perth Trip : Re-visiting East Perth

23 March 200910 Comments

One of the things I love most about our recent trip is how this time round we brought along two little ones to places that Wilson and I used to visit more than ten years ago.

This is East Perth at 5.30pm.

I love how the kids ran freely across the big field while we casually strolled along.

I love the big blue sky.

I love how we all squatted and checked out the countless jellyfish, big and small, in the waters underneath.

One relaxing afternoon we all enjoyed.

[Wilson and the kids were going over a little hill. I was still way behind and when I looked up, I could not NOT take this shot!]

    Hi Gwen,

As promised, here are some places you can go to when you’re in Perth :

    – Lake Monger (where black swans roam around freely)

    – Mill Point, South Perth (big park, really nice view of Perth City and quite a few BBQ pits there)

    – King’s Park (a must-see park. If you visit the park at night, the view of Perth City from the hill is beautiful!)

    – Rottnest Island (by Ferry … you can go cycling around the island)

    – Cohunu Wildlife Park (if you’d like to take a photo carrying a Koala ๐Ÿ™‚

    – Caversham Wildlife Park http://www.cavershamwildlife.com.au/

There are heaps more, but I think those places above (and a few others which I’ve shared in a few ‘Perth Visit’ posts) can keep you quite busy for a few days already ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hope the list helps!

    Samantha:

I guess it’s better to slowly introduce fresh milk to your younger one before you leave for Perth ? Experts usually say it’s okay if the child is at least a year old…

    Jen :

Yes, the trip was refreshing! ๐Ÿ™‚

And thanks for sharing your tips on the diaper and milk questions!

I’m not too sure about the sealed milk powder tin too. Sounds okay if still sealed, but then I’ve heard cases where customs get pretty strict and take no chances.

Perhaps there are other people out there who can share more experiences on this?

  • Jen says:

Hello! Loved to hear that your holiday in Perth went well.

I’d like to contribute to milk/diapers questions above. Diapers (eg. Huggies) can cost about $36AUD for the jumbo boxes (eg. 72 pc for 10-15kg toddlers).

As for milk, you can buy fresh milk ($3 per 2L), and UHT milk is easily avail and comes in many sizes. There are full cream milk powders too. Infant/baby milk formula is about $17-21 per large can. In case you think the formula is not avail in Perth, I think you can bring infant milk powder through customs as long as it’s still sealed (unopened). And make sure you declare it at the customs. They won’tl let you bring fresh (liquid) milk.

  • Samantha says:

Wow! Need to standby quite a fair bit of space to store diaper:p

By the time – I go my elder one will be 3 years plus & younger one is 1.5 year. Safe to take fresh milk? The older one I know can just the smaller one I am not sure.

    Yin :

Thanks … and yup, beautifulll clear sky!

    Sandra :

    Thanks.

That’s how I felt too when I saw Wilson’s photos after he went there for a pre-wedding photo shoot last year.

    ………………………………………………………………..

    Juita :

๐Ÿ™‚ come down and visit when the kids are a little bigger ….

    ………………………………………………………………..

    Samantha:

    Hi there!

Since you can’t bring in dairy products into Australia, I bought fresh milk and UHT milk there. I didn’t buy any milk powder (and didn’t check their prices). But I tell you, fresh milk there is SOOO cheap! Pura Milk is HALF the price here! I love it!

err .. the ‘downside’ … eggs are twice as expensive there! In the end, it kind of evens out when you buy those two ๐Ÿ™‚

    ………………………………………………………………..

    Gwenneth:

    Hi!

We were kinda ‘free and easy’ when we’re there, and since we have families and friends there, we visit and go out with them a lot too. I’ll list down the places we went to in the comment section soon ya .. Hope that’ll help.

I didn’t buy milk powder, just fresh milk and UHT milk. As for diapers, they’re so much more expensive there. And so I brought mine from Singapore ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Gwenneth says:

    Hi Leonny,

We are planning our first trip with the kids to Perth in Oct or Nov this year. Wanted to ask you if you have a sample itinerary that you can share. Can you send me an email?
Also, I have the same question as Samantha, do you purchase milk powder and diapers over there?

    Thanks much!!

  • Samantha says:

Nice Nice! Can’t wait for my Australia holiday which will happen next year when baby is older. Really want a nice 2 weeks plus break. You have problem buying milk powder? As my boy is drinking Friso, wonder this brand carry there?

  • Juita says:

    waaahhhhh…..

  • sandra says:

Sigh! i miss Perth! & that is a fantastic shot – well done ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Yin says:

    what a sky!!
    love the silhouette shot ๐Ÿ™‚
